Learn New Poetry Forms

There are times when a well-used poetry form can go stale for you. Perhaps you have written many successful poems in one genre and now suddenly it seems you have written everything you have to say. Or perhaps you are a new poet who reads many different kinds of poetry but has not yet found one that lights your fires to get you going.

Maybe now is the time to learn about some forms that are new to you. Click on the word to find out more

bullet GHAZAL -
bullet HAIKU -
bullet RENGA -

bullet TANKA -

And that is just for starters! As we go along and get more people involved in this new project, we hope they will share their expertise in their fields so more can be added to this list. In the meantime, and we hope it is a meaningful-time, enjoy what is here.

If you know of, and write in, another poetry form, send your text about the form with samples of your work by attaching the file to an email message to ahabooks@mcn.org with attention to New Genre.
