SEA SHELL GAME #34
Judged by Jane Reichhold
June 17, 2000

(a quickie, don't be picky because I am so far behind)

ROUND ONE

1
sugarflower sways
wisping under drifting clouds
our bus rushes past

2
Lonely wrinkled reflection,
Life gave two loves,
One was all she needed.

Ku # 1 wins.
-----------------------------

3
Winter cold
threatens existence
My hands numb

4
So small and tiny
she curls in my arms
and gently falls to sleep.

Ku # 3.
------------------------------

5
kneading soft dough
for poppy seed rolls~
his freckled back

6
The scorching hot sun,
Cooks my flesh and hair slowly,
Until I'm well-done!

Ku # 5.
---------------------------------

7
late August-
the way the spider's web
bows with each gust

8
I am made of trees
Dancing beyond dimensions
Sneaking underground

Ku # 7.
--------------------------------------

9
Lying on the floor,
stare at a box of Kleenex,
causes a headache.

10
balcony awning
billows in the gale then
cracks like a topsail

Ku # 9
-------------------------------------

11
a serpentine slash
of sleek, autumn-coloured fur:
His Catness pounces.

12
Alone at sunset
she counts
each receding wave.

Ku # 11.
-------------------------------------

13
When boat and shore meet
a thought comes
where does the wind begin?

14
I glance into the past
I wonder about the future
as i'm stuck in the present.

Ku # 13.
--------------------------------------

15
Meditation, I alone
visit the silence within-
on my way to truth

16
smiles to herself
tending the potted posies
speaks to her children

Ku # 16.
